Front Panel LEDs & Mode of Operation
NATIVE mode
The ZHC unit is referred to be in NATIVE mode when all three LEDs on the front panel of the unit are ON. This happens when there is no CATV feed plugged in or if unit is undecided and cannot go to either MAIN or SATELLITE mode.
MAIN mode
This is the mode of operation where the RED and GREEN LEDs on the front panel of the unit are ON. When a CATV feed with a valid number of active channels is connected to the CATV/CASC IN coax port on the ZHC unit, the unit will then check for a pilot tone. If a pilot tone is not detected on the input feed, then the unit will assign itself as a MAIN unit.
NOTE: If a Z-Distribution ZHC is purchased with a fiber option, then the unit will be configured with a lock on its input to be a MAIN unit from the manufacturer. Please contact Z-BAND to get assistance with overwriting the input on such unit.
SATELLITE mode
This is the mode of operation where the AMBER (middle) and GREEN LEDs on the front panel of the unit are ON. If the ZHC unit detects a pilot tone on its input feed (CATV/CASC IN coax port), then the unit will switch to SATELLITE mode. In addition, it will apply an appropriate signal conditioning algorithm based on the distance calculated between itself and the MAIN / Lower-Level SATELLITE unit.

Cascading a Z-Distribution Unit
Every Z-Distribution unit has eight coaxial outbound ports which could be used to cascade other units. The RF output of these coax outbound ports will have a positive slope/tilt. This is to accommodate losses in the coaxial cables across the CATV ...

RF Power Level Recommendations
Coax Systems: When using a coax feed as an input to a 'Main' Z-Band video distribution unit, the RF signal level needs to be a FLAT ~ 20 dBmV for Digital Channels. FLAT usually refers to the signal levels being constant across the active RF ...
