GigaBUD HD860 Rear Panel Button
This article describes the rear mounted button on the HD 860 units, used to control mode configuration and pilot tone settings. The Gen 3 HD860 units are coax only, they have no fiber input. These units relies on coaxial cable for signal transport. Fiber can be used externally with auxiliary devices, but cannot be integrated.
- The button needs to be pressed for atleast 5 seconds to activate its functionality.
- The button's main purpose is to get the unit to switch from Auto to Master mode or from Master mode back to Auto mode.
- When the units CATV input does not have a Channel 27 and the unit needs to be set as a Master, then power cycle the unit and after the unit reboots, press and hold the rear button for 5 seconds. This sets the unit manually to be in Master mode.
- The unit will remain in master mode even if the unit is rebooted since the rear button overrides the input and forces it to stay in master mode.
- If the unit's CATV input has Channel 27 then the unit in Auto mode will automatically go to Master mode without needing to use the rear button. When this unit's input is removed and the unit is rebooted the unit will be back in Auto mode.
- To switch the unit from Master back to Auto mode, power cycle the unit and press and hold the rear button for atleast 5 seconds. This should put the unit back in Auto mode.
- The auto mode will ensure the unit can switch to Slave mode if its input is connected to the Cascade In port and that connection is coming from a Master unit's outbound port which will contain a 240MHz pilot tone.
Resetting power to the device restores the units to its previous state with tone broadcast if in Main mode.
